School’s Back—and So Is Learning What You Weren’t Taught About Mortgages

Because financial literacy should be part of everyone’s real-life toolkit.

September always brings that back-to-school energy—new pencils, packed lunches, and kids adjusting to routine again. But every fall, I’m reminded of how much we don’t learn in school… especially when it comes to real-life money skills.

We’re taught algebra, the parts of a cell, and how to write a five-paragraph essay (which, yes, I’m ironically using right now). But what about credit scores? Debt-to-income ratio? What it actually takes to buy your first home?

I’ve worked with so many smart, capable adults who feel embarrassed they don’t understand how mortgages work. Some of them have college degrees. Some are small business owners or parents juggling a dozen responsibilities. And almost all of them at some point say, “I wish someone had taught me this sooner.”

You’re not alone. And it’s not your fault.

Most of us weren’t taught how interest rates, loan terms, or credit factors actually affect our buying power. We were handed a diploma but not the financial clarity that makes adult life feel manageable.

But here’s the good news: you don’t need a finance degree to buy a home.

As a mortgage broker, I walk you through the process step by step—explaining the “why” behind the numbers so you can feel confident in every decision you make. I translate the jargon, decode the options, and help you see the full picture—not just the fine print.

Because the mortgage process shouldn’t feel like a pop quiz you forgot to study for. It should feel like a course you’re empowered to pass—with support, not shame.

My goal is to help you understand the path ahead, whether you’re just exploring your options or ready to buy right now. We can go as fast or as slow as you need. I’m here to answer your questions (even the ones you think are “dumb”—they’re not!) and give you tools to make informed decisions that work for you.

So if September has you in learning mode, maybe it’s time to learn something that directly impacts your future—your home, your finances, your peace of mind.

You bring your curiosity. I’ll bring the whiteboard (or at least a helpful spreadsheet).
