New Paths, Small Steps, and the Power of One Word
Reflections on change, growth, and finding steady ground in a new year.
There’s something about January—the hush after the holiday rush, the blank page of a fresh calendar—that invites both hope and a bit of hesitation.
We’re surrounded by talk of big resolutions, vision boards, and dramatic reinventions. And while I’m all for growth, I’ve learned that sometimes, the most meaningful progress happens through small, consistent steps rather than giant leaps.
My Year of Change
In 2025, the word that kept echoing in my mind—sometimes gently, sometimes like a shout—was “change.”
I didn’t choose it intentionally at first. It just kept appearing in quiet moments: during hikes, over my morning tea, or while driving through the snowy canyons. At the time, I wasn’t even sure what it meant for me. But looking back, it’s clear that 2025 has been a year of shifts—some welcome, some challenging, all ultimately shaping me into a version of myself I’m grateful to be becoming.
Some changes were professional. Some were deeply personal. Some were about how I see myself, how I spend my energy, and how I show up for others.
I’ve learned that change doesn’t always come with grand announcements. Sometimes it whispers, nudges, and quietly rearranges your life until suddenly you realize you’re standing somewhere new.
Looking Ahead to 2026
I don’t know yet what my word for 2026 will be—or if I’ll even have one. But I know it will build upon the changes of this past year.
Instead of setting lofty resolutions, I’m focusing on improving my day-to-day rhythms:
Showing up with presence and patience for my clients.
Taking small steps on personal goals, even when the finish line feels far away.
Spending time in nature to reset and reflect.
Staying open to what life has in store—even when it surprises me.
Because it’s the small daily choices—the phone call returned, the honest conversation had, the quiet moment taken—that add up to real transformation.
What This Means for You
Maybe you’re reading this and also feeling like life’s been one big pivot lately. Maybe “change” has visited your doorstep, too—through career shifts, family milestones, health challenges, or dreams you didn’t even know you’d dare to dream.
If buying a home or making financial changes is on your horizon, know this: you don’t have to tackle it all at once. It’s okay to start with small steps:
Learning what’s possible for your budget.
Checking your credit.
Exploring loan options.
Simply having a conversation to see where you stand.
As a mortgage broker, I’m here not just for the paperwork, but to help you navigate change with clarity and compassion. I’ll meet you wherever you are in the process, whether you’re ready to act now or just exploring possibilities for the future.
One Word, Many Paths
So here’s my wish for both of us in 2026: that we keep taking small steps forward. That we listen for the words whispering to us. And that we trust the journey—even when we can’t see around the next bend.
Because change, I’ve learned, isn’t always something to fear. Sometimes it’s simply the trail that leads us home.
Here’s to new beginnings, steady progress, and the quiet magic of small steps.
